Good Morning! 2 prayer points I would like to
leave with you this morning:
Remember Don Edwin and Don Willy? They have been our trustworthy taxi drivers
since we arrived here in Bolivia. Don Edwin and his wife, Evida, have come to
our home for dinner a few months ago. Everyday our friendship grows with these 2
Bolivians.
1. PLEASE PRAY: ...that Don Edwin and Don Willy realize and accept their
need for Jesus Christ to be their one and only Savior from their sins...
We believe that these two fellows are in our lives not by chance but by God’s
direction.
For over a year now, they have witnessed our lives "in action". They have heard
Scripture quoted in their language. They have heard our children sing praises to
God in Spanish. They have heard our testimonies as to why we are here in
Bolivia. They have read Gospel tracts. Don Edwin has heard the explanation of
the Wordless Book. Now, we believe is the time to ask more pointed questions
that lead toward a decision for Christ. By God's leading and by His grace, a
dear and trustworthy friendship has been laid. It is now that we sense we can
probe a bit deeper into their personal hearts without causing the friendship to
be fragile. Please pray for wisdom, especially for me (Tami) as many times I
have over an hour at a time with them in their taxi as they take me and the kids
to various places around the city. God has placed several passages of Scripture
in my heart from the book of Isaiah that share how there is only ONE GOD and no
other. (Here in Bolivia, many gods and spirits are prayed and worshiped and
appeased out of fear, out of hope for prosperity, etc.) We live in their
culture, steeped in spiritism, tradition, and fear. Please pray for courage to
share Christ when the Spirit is prompting me. With our Spanish still giving us a
loss of words or knowledge of how to translate Christ's message of freedom from
English to Spanish (usually on the spur of the moment), it makes it all the more
difficult. BUT, it makes it all the more God's work and our dependence on his
power. Please pray God would unveil their hearts and minds to understand and
receive the TRUTH and the only Person that can give them true, abundant life
(here and in Heaven).
2. PLEASE PRAY: for our safety...
Last night our neighbors next door, who all profess Jesus as their Savior,
called to let us know that 3 robbers tried to enter their home yesterday around
10:30 am. Their son was at home at the time and when he didn't answer the ring
of the door bell, he looked out the window to see who it could be. At that
moment, he witnessed one of the 3 robbers walking in their yard. The son banged
on the window and called a police friend they know. The "banging" scared the
robbers and they fled in a green car and that was it.
2 weeks ago, God allowed us to meet our neighbors to the north of us, who live
across the street. One day, as we were on our way out the gate, her came to us
and told us that he had seen me get robbed 2 months before. He said he saw the
whole thing and his retelling of it was accurate. He told us that robbers are
watching us (he included his family in his word "us" as well) all the time. He
said they study us and watch our comings and goings. We already knew this, but
it was great to meet him face to face. His name is Julio Cesar. Then, a few days
ago when the garbage truck came, and all us neighbors emerge from our homes to
bring them our trash, God gave me the opportunity to meet Julio Cesar's wife,
Juana. She commented on how many children were sitting out in front of our gate
at that moment. (they were the children that come to Kid's club). I told her
that Kids club wasn't for another 2 hours but they are so excited to come and
play and hear about the Bible that they come early just to be sure they won't
miss it. She and I chatted for a while as the children helped me lift my trash
up to the garbage men who were standing on heaps of garbage in the back of this
big dump truck. Juana also said that she hears lots of noise on the days of
Kid's club. PRAY for more witnessing opportunities with our neighbors as our
friendships grow.
Thank you for your prayers. Without each and every one of you, we wouldn't be
here "spreading the fragrance of the knowledge of Christ." (2 Cor. 2:14)
